SPPH students receive MSFHR awards

SPPH PhD students, Wei Zhang and Perry Hystad, have received post-doctoral fellowship awards from the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR).

The award is part of MSFHR’s Research Trainee Program, which supports BC’s best and brightest young investigators in launching their independent research careers.

Ms. Zhang, under the supervision of Dr. Mieke Koehoorn, will explore her research topic, “Estimating the true burden of chronic conditions in Canada by including the productivity losses due to illness.”

Mr. Hystad, under the supervision of Dr. Michael Brauer, will explore his research topic, “A Global Assessment Of Air Pollution And Cardiovascular And Respiratory Disease In The Prospective Urban And Rural Epidemiological Study.”
