SPPH student wins prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

SPPH PhD student Giulia Muraca has won a prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship. The Vanier Scholarships are intended to attract and retain world-class doctoral students to Canada and are awarded to students from around the world who have displayed leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement. The scholarships are worth $50,000 per year for three years.

Giulia was one of 33 doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows at the University of British Columbia who are recipients of the Vanier scholarships and Banting Fellows announced by the Honourable Greg Rickford, Minister of State (Science and Technology) in September.

Giulia’s research project is entitled: “Epidemiological insights into increasing postpartum hemorrhage rates in Canada” and she is supervised by Dr. K.S. Joseph.
