Career Paths
PHPM physicians are trained to address Public Health challenges in an age of globalization.
UBC-trained PHPM specialists work as medical health officers, epidemiologists, policy-makers, regulators, researchers and population health clinicians in a broad range of settings and environments.
Our graduates have been employed by Regional Health Authorities across Canada (eg. Vancouver Coastal Health, First Nations Health Authority, etc.), provincial and territorial agencies and ministries of health (eg. BC Centre for Disease Control , Government of Nova Scotia, Government of Nunavut, etc.), academic institutions (eg. UBC), federal government departments (eg. Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, Department of National Defence), international organizations (eg. US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, International Committee of the Red Cross, World Health Organization) and many more.
