SPPH’s Dr. Gina Ogilvie is lead author on paper that finds no association between HPV vaccination and risky sexual behaviours

Oct 15, 2018 |

Authors Gina S. Ogilvie, Felicia Phan, Heather N. Pedersen, Simon R. Dobson, Monika Naus and Elizabeth M. Saewyc have been published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal for their article on population-level sexual behaviours in adolescent girls before and after introduction of the human papillomavirus vaccine (2003-2013).

Groups have expressed concern with HPV vaccines administered through school immunization programs and their impact on risk-taking behaviour among adolescents. The study provides an evaluation of population-level changes in sexual behaviours among adolescents before and after implementation of the HPV vaccination program in British Columbia schools.
