Dr Hoption Cann is a Clinical Professor in the School of Population & Public Health, Health in Populations Division.

He received his PhD at the University of Victoria studying cancer immunology and biostatistics and completed a CIHR-sponsored post-doctoral degree in Epidemiology at UBC’s Department of Health Care and Epidemiology.

He has been involved in teaching in UBC’s Medical Undergraduate Program since 2001. Dr Hoption Cann is the Chair of UBC’s Clinical Research Ethics Board and the Associate Chair of the Providence Health Care Research Ethics Board at St Paul’s Hospital. He is Faculty with the non-profit American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine where he lectures on fever and evidence-based fever management.

His research interests include studying the pathophysiology of fever in infectious diseases and researching the phenomenon of spontaneous disease remission in association with acute febrile infections.
