Dr. Mahsa Jessri is the Canada Research Chair in Nutritional Epidemiology for Population Health and leads the UBC Nutritional Epidemiology and Big Data Analytics Laboratory. She is an expert in public health, nutritional epidemiology, surveillance and methodology, biostatistics, as well as nutrition policy. Dr. Jessri’s research program is uniquely at the intersection of population and public health and nutritional sciences with an special interest in big data. The overarching goal of her research program is to provide the evidence-base and decision tools to inform public health guidelines and policies for reducing the burden of chronic diseases.

Currently, Dr. Jessri’s program is focused on population modeling (and prediction) of the impact of poor lifestyle patterns on health and healthcare, population health impact assessment, and design and implementation of personalized risk assessment tools (web-based Calculators).

Dr. Jessri is an active member of several public health and nutrition committees, including at Health Canada and the World Federation of Public Health Associations. Dr. Jessri is also a core member of Centre for Health Services and Policy Research (CHSPR).
