Dr. Trevor Corneil named Associate Director, Clinical Faculty Affairs

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Trevor Corneil has accepted the position of Associate Director, Clinical Faculty Affairs, a newly created leadership position in the School of Population and Public Health.

The Associate Director, Clinical Faculty Affairs, is responsible for creating a rewarding and engaging environment for the School’s clinical faculty that embraces their significant contributions to public health research, education, and service. In this role, Dr. Corneil will provide leadership and strategic direction to our clinical faculty members with a focus on collaborations, partnerships and citizenship. Finally, the Associate Director provides guidance and support to the SPPH Director and the committee responsible for recommendations regarding clinical appointments, reappointments and promotion reviews.  The Associate Director, Clinical Faculty Affairs will work closely with all the other Associate Directors (Partnerships and Community Engagement, Research, and Education) in providing leadership and he will be a member of the School’s Management Committee.

Dr. Corneil is a Clinical Professor in our School with over 20 years of experience in public health practice, inner-city medicine, medical education, and senior administrative practice, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience from within and outside the university setting. Currently, he is the Director of the Public Health & Preventive Medicine residency program within our school and a Medical Health Officer with Northern Health. Dr. Corneil received his Bachelor in Life Sciences and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He then undertook his residency training at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia, completing fellowships in both family medicine and public health and preventive medicine, and a master’s degree in public health and epidemiology. Dr. Corneil is a fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Practice of Canada.
