Congratulations to Dr. Kim Schonert-Reichl

The School of Population and Public Health would like to congratulate Dr. Kim Schonert-Reichl, one of North America’s top applied developmental psychologists and a renowned expert in the area of social and emotional learning, or SEL, for her new appointment as the next NoVo Foundation Endowed Chair of Social and Emotional Learning at the University of Illinois Chicago. Pending approval of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees, Kimberly Schonert-Reichl, will be appointed to the chair at UIC and start in January 2021.

During her 5 years of interdisciplinary research at the Human Early Learning Partnership (HELP), based at the School of Population and Public Health, Dr. Kim Schonert-Reichl led through HELP’s unique partnership to bring together many scientific viewpoints to address complex early child development (ECD) issues.

She dedicated her research to improving the health and well-being of children through interdisciplinary research and mobilizing knowledge. Her team pioneered an integrated and creative knowledge-to-action strategy that prioritizes engagement and collaboration, to apply their research to influence policies, practices, and programs for children and families.

Her dedication to her work is truly inspiring to the SPPH community, and we wish Dr. Kim Schonert-Reichl the best of luck in her new role.
