Dr. Eleni Galanis obtained her medical degree from the Universite de Sherbrooke in 1995, a Master of Public Health from Harvard University in 1998 and completed her Community Medicine training at the University of Toronto in 2000.

She has worked at Health Canada and with the World Health Organization. Dr. Galanis is currently working on provincial enteric and zoonotic disease surveillance, control and prevention at the BC Centre for Disease Control.

Her interests include the epidemiology of foodborne and waterborne infections and outbreak investigation and surveillance methods.

Recent work includes the investigation of the study of chronic sequelae of enteric infections, the impact of climate change on waterborne disease and the integrated surveillance of pathogens along the foodchain.
