How do I network effectively?

Hosted in partnership with Emerging Health Leaders Vancouver, MHA students and alumni are invited to attend this insightful event on how to improve your professional networking skills. Senior health care leader Dr. Randy Gilbert will answer your questions on the value of networking, building a network, networking etiquette, and how to network with purpose. This interactive workshop will also offer the opportunity to practice your new skills. Light refreshments will be provided.

Speaker Details:

Randy Gilbert, PhD, FCCHL, CPHIMS-CA

Dr. Randy Gilbert has over 35 years of leadership experience and 18 years clinical experience. He holds a PhD with Honours in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a specialty in Leadership and Organizational Change and also is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems. He is a Fellow of the Canadian College of Health Leaders, serves currently as a member of the Certified Health Executive Program Committee, and is heavily engaged as a College mentor. He is also Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University on Master or Arts in Leadership programs where he has taught since 2005.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Gilbert served with the Canadian Armed Forces for 38 years in multiple leadership positions including as Commanding Officer of a Canadian Forces Health Services Centre, Functional Lead for the Canadian Forces Health Information System, and the Canadian health informatics representative for NATO. While in southern Afghanistan, he served as the NATO Chief of Medical Operations and Senior Staff Officer for Afghan National Security Force Health Development. He also envisioned, developed, and led the implementation of two national train-the-trainer systems to support pan-Canadian transformational initiatives. Dr. Gilbert is currently the Corporate Director of Business Operations for BC Lower Mainland Consolidated Health Information Management.
