Social and Life Course Theme Co-Founders: Remembering Clyde Hertzman

Mar 18, 2013 |

The Social and Life Course Theme was co-founded by Drs. Jean Shoveller, Brenda Poon and Clyde Hertzman. Dr. Hertzman passed away suddenly in 2013, leaving a much-cherished legacy within the Theme. As one of the most important leaders in the social determinants of health and life course perspectives, Clyde Hertzman played a major role in the establishment of the Social and Life Course Theme at UBC’s School of Population & Public Health. His intellectual inspiration, his unwavering collegiality, and his generous approach to great science and meaningful action was central to the Theme’s development and remains at the core of our continued success. Clyde believed that a better world is possible and he launched us onto a trajectory that will contribute to the realization of that possibility. Visit here to learn more about his many other achievements and contributions.
